no wonder !!
PRC is in habit to squander big money for inferior useless techniques,
as buying IBM's notebook factory !!!!
now they are likely to buy useless car industries there !!!

MG was never a big seller. A British name may even hinder it more.
For once, I think lecher dog may be right. China may be throwing away
good money for a dream that may not come true any time soon.

There is a method to this madness. Nanjing Automobile Corp had
already bought the production assets of MG_Rover (I recall reading
that somewhere.) The strategy was to acquire the technologies in
suspensions, gearbox transmissions, stuff like that that NJC can
incorporate into their China market cars. This is cheaper and a lot
faster than developing the same systems from scratch.
MG cars will not sell in an already crowded China market. But NAC has
already got all the MG production jigs from the purchase and they are
too big and pricey to use as boat anchors. Therefore why not use them
to make cars in the USA. Sure it will be a loss leader. But it will
not be a total loss as would be the case if NAC went into the US with
a China origin model. By producing and selling MG cars NAC will gain
invaluable experience in operating a car manufacturing facility in the
US. The compoany will also learn marketing, distribution and after
sales support. If the American market doesn't pan out NAC will be out
the investment the factory, much of which is probably subsidized by
Oklahoma State. NAC won't be out much on development and tooling
costs. Sounds good.

Most gratifying to see ....
That the lecherous gentleman from HK is not as unreadable as
frequently claimed. He, indeed, had made admirable progress.

He is not making "admirable progress". He just cut out some of his
filthy dirty (I said some, not all) foul mouth words. He is
translating his Chinese into English, and looking into the dictionary
to find the right word to fit his Chinese idea. Of course the sentence
(or a bunch of words put together) came out meaningless. Once in a
while, it came out meaningful.

At long bloody last, after three or four years away from the Usenet, I
see good ol' "lechergod" is still around. Anybody here remembers
"AkiraBBQ"?
